Bougainvillea (Bouganville) bonsai, an evergreen flowering plant, prized for its vibrant and striking blooms, which make it highly ornamental. The true flowers are small, tubular and cream-white in colour, clustered at the centre of three thin, papery bracts with a velvety texture, which are lilac-pink in colour. It flowers profusely and may bloom several times a year in abundant light; flowering is generally at its peak between spring and summer, but in bright, sheltered locations it can begin as early as late winter. It features a deep green canopy, harmonious branching and a trunk with a sinuous shape. When grown in a rectangular, copper-glazed stoneware pot, it brings out the colour of the leaves and complements the refined appearance of the bonsai perfectly.
