Carpinus betulus (hornbeam) bonsai, a deciduous variety, prized for its elegance and bright green serrated leaves. The foliage turns a golden yellow to brownish-orange in autumn and is bare in winter, giving it a very decorative appearance. In spring, flowers may appear in the form of pendulous inflorescences called catkins: the male catkins are longer and more showy, whilst the female ones are smaller and more discreet. Following flowering, small winged fruits develop in clusters; these are decorative but not particularly showy. It is grown in a round black plastic pot, which showcases the trunk and foliage whilst offering practicality, lightness and durability for optimal cultivation.
