Metasequoia bonsai, a deciduous conifer, highly prized in the art of bonsai for its elegant and natural form. It features soft needles arranged oppositely along the branches. In spring, the foliage is a bright light green; it turns a deep green during the summer and transforms into warm shades of yellow-bronze and copper in autumn before falling, further enhancing the bonsai’s charm. As it ages, the bark becomes fibrous and flakes off in vertical strips, becoming increasingly interesting. The forest-style (yose-ue) features multiple trunks that create the effect of a small miniature forest, giving the plant a natural and harmonious appearance. This style recreates a balanced and evocative woodland setting. Cultivated in a copper-coloured oval pot, which enhances the composition and creates a contrast with the green foliage.
