A shohin bonsai of Premna japonica, a deciduous species prized for its fine, compact foliage, maintains a neat and elegant appearance throughout the growing season. In spring and summer, the leaves are a bright green, whilst in autumn they take on warmer hues before falling, revealing the plant’s bare structure and distinctive stylistic composition in winter. In spring, it produces small cream-white or white-green flowers clustered in inflorescences. After flowering, small round berries may form, which ripen from green to darker shades (purplish or black). When grown in a round, turquoise-glazed stoneware pot, it enhances the structure of the bonsai, bringing out its character and blending perfectly with the overall aesthetic.
