Ficus retusa – 26 cm
A Ficus retusa bonsai, measuring 20 cm in height (excluding the pot) and with a trunk diameter of 2.5 cm. The plant is grown in a rectangular glazed stoneware pot measuring 15x10xH6 cm.
Bonsai are living things and each one is different from the others, so the plant you receive will be similar to, but not identical to, the one shown in the photograph. The height may vary as the plant grows.
The size, colour and shape of the pot may vary depending on availability.
This Ficus retusa (fig) bonsai, an evergreen indoor plant, is prized for its hardiness and rapid growth. It features a dense canopy with deep green, oval leaves, a sturdy trunk and well-developed roots. It is styled as an inverted broom (Hokidachi), in which the well-developed and proportionate trunk supports a neat branching pattern. Cultivated in a rectangular, blue-glazed stoneware pot, it creates a striking visual effect whilst maintaining a subtle contrast with the deep green of the leaves.
From fall to spring, when temperatures are below 10°C, place the bonsai indoors less than 1 meter from a window, unshielded by curtains. From spring to fall, place it outdoors in partial shade.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water it thoroughly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.

Fertilize from spring to fall, avoiding the hottest months of July/August. Use an organic, liquid, or solid fertilizer.

Given the speed of growth, repot young specimens every two years and adult specimens every three years. The best time to do this is April-May.
