Sageretia theezans (Sageretia) bonsai, an evergreen indoor plant, prized for its small, serrated foliage of a deep green colour, which is renewed by young shoots in shades of light green. In favourable conditions, it may produce small, delicate yellowish-white flowers, usually in spring and summer, followed by small berries which, as they ripen, take on reddish hues ranging up to dark blue-purple. It features an inverted broom style (Hokidachi), characterised by an upright trunk supporting a broad, harmonious crown. Particularly striking are the exposed roots (Neagari), which develop at the base of the trunk, creating a natural and dramatic effect and giving the bonsai a mature appearance rich in character; these vary in structure and distinctive features depending on the individual plant. The rectangular blue-glazed stoneware pot helps to emphasise the bonsai’s aesthetic, whilst maintaining a delicate contrast with the green of the leaves.
