Zelkova nire – Elm – 26 cm

Of Chinese origin, this plant, which belongs to the Ulmaceae family, has a smooth trunk with greyish-brown or dark brown bark and a lush crown, consisting of many small, densely packed leaves of a simple shape: oval, serrated, with short but well-developed petioles. It is evergreen, hardy and easy to grow. It is also very well suited to creating clumps with a characteristic cloud-like shape, which gives it a particularly striking appearance. Zelkova nire, native to the island of Formosa, are highly prized for their small leaves. In the wild, they grow with a rounded, broad and slightly lanceolate crown.
