Rhus typhina bonsai, an outdoor deciduous bonsai, known as American sumac or large sumac, is prized in the world of bonsai for its light, airy habit, elegant growth and extraordinary seasonal colours. Its slender, harmonious compound leaves are distinguished by their bright green colour in spring and summer, accompanied by young branches with delicate reddish tones that lend brightness and movement to the canopy. In autumn, the foliage transforms into a spectacle of warm colours, ranging from golden yellow to orange and finally to deep red, before the leaves fall during winter. In late spring or early summer, it may produce small greenish or cream-yellow flowers clustered in upright panicles. On female specimens, flowering is followed by distinctive, deep red, velvety conical infructescences, which retain their ornamental value for a long time. This plant is currently in the growth and shaping phase. It is grown in a square black plastic pot.
