Bonsai University, Level 1 2026

The Bonsai University's Level 1 course takes place at the Parabiago campus. Led by master Nobuyuki Kajiwara, it is divided into four sessions (one weekend for each season), addressing various seasonal issues by applying specific bonsai techniques. The course also covers the aesthetic aspects of bonsai display and the historical and cultural background that shaped the evolution of bonsai art, with in-depth studies of general botany and phytopathology. The theoretical part is complemented by practical work, on plants provided by the University, which includes the various phases of bonsai study, training, and maintenance, as well as analysis of the characteristics of different species and shaping styles.

• Dates 2026: 1st session: January 31 – February 1; 2nd session: March 7-8; 3rd session: May 2-3; 4th session: September 12-13.
• The participation fee includes: 48 hours of lessons (theory and practice), the support of the three teachers (in addition to master Nobuyuki Kajiwara, Dario Giglioli, the master's assistant, and Dr. Andrea Tovaglieri for botany), 3 bonsai to work on during the course which remain the property of each student, part of the consumables for working with them; handouts on bonsai techniques, botany, and phytopathology, as well as a binder, note-taking material, and a tool case. Annual subscription to BONSAI & news magazine.
Every student enrolled at the University will receive a 10% discount on all products except those already on promotion.
