Herbaceous

Herbaceous plants called Kusa ("herbaceous") mono ("thing" - plant by extension) are generally perennial species that bloom spontaneously every year. In bonsai and/or suiseki exhibitions, they are used as accompanying plants: compositions called Shitakusa are created by combining wild plants of different types. "A bonsai or suiseki without an accompanying plant is like a face without a smile".
