Summer has arrived, and it's very important to water your bonsai correctly to keep them healthy. Checking whether the soil of our miniature trees is sufficiently irrigated is a daily routine that helps to keep them healthy and, especially with the arrival of hot weather, prevents them from drying out.

Follow the wet-dry cycles.
Water generously until water comes out of the pot's drainage hole. Repeat after a few minutes so that all the soil is thoroughly moistened.
Water again only when the soil feels dry—not dry—to the touch.
Check the bonsai's soil daily by feeling the surface with your fingers and water only when necessary.
If the bonsai has a layer of Akadama (specific bonsai soil) on its surface, its color can help determine the right time to water: if the Akadama is light beige, the soil is dry; if it is dark brown, the soil is still wet.
Lifting the pot can also help determine if the plant is sufficiently watered: when the bonsai is dry, it will feel lighter when lifted; when it is still wet, on the contrary, it will feel heavier.
Using specific tools in bonsai cultivation makes everything even easier. A bonsai watering can, for example, is equipped with a nozzle or rosette with fine holes at the end so that the water, falling like a shower, wets the soil without compacting it or sweeping it away.
