Stewartia is a deciduous species that is particularly appreciated for its elegant and natural appearance; this bonsai evokes a small glimpse of a miniature forest. The fine, harmonious foliage is bright green during the growing season, changing to warm shades of yellow, orange and red in autumn before the winter fall. This bonsai is grown in a woodland style (yose-ue), in which several trunks of different sizes and heights are arranged in a seemingly random manner but designed to create depth and perspective.
