Carpinus - Hornbeam - 46 cm
A hornbeam bonsai measuring 40.5 cm in height excluding the pot, and with trunks 1 cm in diameter. The plant is grown in a rectangular glazed stoneware pot measuring 22.5x16.5xH5.5 cm.
Carpinus (hornbeam) bonsai, a deciduous species, prized for its delicate branching and the beauty of its leaves. The leaves are bright green, with serrated edges and clearly visible veins. In spring, the new leaves emerge with subtle bronze-pink hues, before quickly turning a fresh, bright green. The foliage turns a golden yellow to brownish-orange in autumn and sheds its leaves in winter, creating a highly decorative appearance. The smooth, light-grey bark helps to lend a sense of maturity and refinement to the composition, particularly during the winter months when the structure of the branches is fully visible. In spring, it produces inconspicuous, catkin-shaped flowers. It subsequently develops highly decorative ornamental fruits: pendulous infructescences that accompany the seeds and ripen between summer and early autumn. Cultivated in a woodland style (Yose-ue), with several plants of varying heights to lend balance and depth to the composition. The rectangular pot, made of blue glazed stoneware with green hues, enhances the composition without distracting the eye.
