This bonsai of Cornus kousa (dogwood) is a deciduous flowering and fruiting tree, prized for its seasonal beauty and elegant structure. Its leaves turn from light green to deep, bright green in spring; they turn red, orange and yellow in autumn, creating a spectacular play of colours; then shed its leaves in winter. Cornus is known for its small yellow-green flowers in late spring or early summer and the production of small fruits (drupes) ranging in colour from pink to red, with yellow-orange flesh inside. Grown in an informal upright style (Moyogi), it has a solid trunk and a natural, well-developed foliage. The oval blue glazed stoneware pot contrasts elegantly with the shades of the foliage.
