Aglaia – 82 cm
A fine example of an Aglaia bonsai, measuring 62.5 cm in height (excluding the pot), with a trunk diameter of 8 cm and a nebari of 21 cm. The plant is grown in an unglazed rectangular stoneware pot measuring 50 x 38 x H19.5 cm.
A bonsai specimen of Aglaia, a refined tropical evergreen prized for its compact crown, glossy foliage and fragrant flowers. Its small oval leaves retain an intense green colour throughout the year, with new growth appearing lighter in colour in spring. Between late spring and early autumn, it produces numerous small, golden-yellow flowers in clusters, characterised by a delicate and pleasant fragrance. In favourable conditions, it may also develop small, round ornamental fruits, which are initially green but turn yellowish or reddish as they ripen. It has a sturdy, well-proportioned trunk that supports a broad, compact crown. It features a clump-style (Kabudachi) form, in which the trunks grow from the same base with a single root system, effectively making them a single tree. It is grown in a rectangular, unglazed stoneware pot, which enhances the contrast with the bright green foliage and lends stability and elegance to the entire composition. The pot features a refined front decoration engraved with stylised plant motifs, and on the reverse side, an oriental calligraphic engraving. The decoration, understated and elegant, enriches the pot with a refined artisanal detail without detracting from the bonsai’s striking presence.
Grow bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered but very bright spot with temperatures above 10º-12ºC during the colder months, and in partial shade during the warmer months.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water abundantly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.
