Ilex bonsai characterised by a height without pot of 35 cm, trunk size of 1.5 cm, nebari of 3.5 cm. The plant is grown in an enamelled rectangular pot whose dimensions are 16x12xH7 cm.
This bonsai of Ilex serrata subtilis (holly) deciduous fruit tree is an ornamental variety prized for its pinkish-white spring flowering and its red or orange berries that ripen in autumn and remain on the plant for most of the winter. The foliage, consisting of small, serrated leaves, sheds its leaves in winter, leaving room for red berries. Cultivated in a turquoise glazed rectangular pot that enhances the intense colours of the foliage. The photo with the foliage full of leaves and berries was taken in September, the one with the bare foliage in February.
Place your Ilex serrata bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water thoroughly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.

Apply fertilizer regularly from spring to fall, avoiding the hottest months of July/August. We recommend using slow-release organic fertilizer, alternating with liquid fertilizer.

Up to 10 years of age, it is advisable to repot every year in early spring, as the roots are fine and very vigorous, capable of saturating the pot in a single growing season. After this period, repotting can be done every other year in March or April, or between late September and early October.
