The shohin bonsai of Diospyros kaki (Kaki), belonging to the deciduous fruiting variety, is a variety that is characterized by its hardiness and sweet fruit production. Flowering occurs in late spring with small creamy-yellow flowers, and is followed by ornamental orange autumn fruits. The foliage, consisting of bright green oval leaves, turns orange-yellow in autumn and sheds its leaves in winter. Cultivated in a rectangular blue glazed stoneware pot, which emphasizes the beauty of the bonsai, creating a pleasant contrast with the green leaves.
