Callicarpa japonica - Callicarpa - 59 cm
A Callicarpa bonsai measuring 53 cm in height (excluding the pot) and with a trunk diameter of 2 cm. The plant is grown in a rectangular glazed stoneware pot measuring 25,5x19,5xH6 cm.
A Callicarpa japonica (callicarpa) bonsai, belonging to the deciduous, fruit-bearing variety, is known for its small purple berries that adorn the branches in autumn, creating a unique ornamental effect. In late spring, it produces pink-lilac, four-petalled flowers arranged in clusters in the leaf axils. The foliage, which is light green, turns orange-yellow in autumn and sheds its leaves in winter. The rectangular blue-glazed stoneware pot creates a refined colour contrast with the shades of the foliage and helps to enhance the overall elegance of the bonsai.
Grow bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months. Exposure to the sun in autumn promotes berry coloring.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water abundantly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.
