DESCRIPTION

This Ilex serrata (holly) bonsai, belonging to the deciduous, fruit-bearing variety, is an ornamental variety prized for its pinkish-white spring blossoms and its red or orange berries, which ripen in autumn and remain on the plant for most of the winter. The foliage, consisting of small, serrated leaves, sheds in winter, making way for the red berries. The exposed-root style (Neagari) is characterised by a sinuous, natural trunk that grows upwards, supported by visible, well-structured roots, which add strength and character to the plant, imparting a genuine sense of maturity and balance. Grown in a square, blue-glazed stoneware pot, it creates a refined contrast with the colour of the foliage, elegantly enhancing the composition.
