Choju jinbutsu jig
National Treasure Choju-jinbutsu-giga is a picture book; made with black ink paint; it is currently preserved in the Kozan-ji temple in Kyoto. The contents depict animals and people together showing the society of ancient times. The current configuration is composed of 4 volumes named A, B, C, D. The most famous panel tells the story of playful anthropomorphized rabbits, frogs, monkeys, etc., who engage in water games, games of chance, sumo wrestling, arguments and more. The theory is that the artist used these drawings to satirize contemporary human and social customs of the time.
