Unique specimen bonsai of Carpinus (hornbeam), a deciduous species, prized for its fine branching and the beauty of its leaves. The bright green leaves have a serrated margin and clearly visible veins. In spring the new leaves emerge with slight bronze-pink shades, then quickly turn a fresh, bright green. The foliage turns golden yellow to brownish orange in autumn and sheds its leaves in winter, giving it a very decorative appearance. The smooth, light grey bark contributes to the maturity and refinement of the composition, especially in the winter months when the branch structure is completely visible. It produces inconspicuous catkin-shaped flowers in spring. It then develops very decorative ornamental fruits: pendulous infructescences that accompany the seeds and ripen between summer and early autumn. Cultivated in a forest style (Yose-ue), with several plants of different heights to give balance and depth to the composition. The oval cream glazed stoneware pot, enhances the composition without distracting the eye, enhances the light colour of the trunks and creates contrast with the bright green of the leaves in spring and summer or the yellow-orange typical of the autumn period.
Grow bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water it thoroughly. Then wait for the soil to dry out before watering again in the same way.
