Chamaecyparis obtusa – False cypress – 53 cm
A Chamaecyparis bonsai measuring 47 cm in height (excluding the pot), with a trunk diameter of 1.5 cm and a nebari of 3 cm. The plant is grown in an oval glazed stoneware pot measuring 17x13.5xH6 cm.
A Chamaecyparis obtusa (false cypress) bonsai, an evergreen conifer, prized for its slow growth, hardiness and the sculptural beauty of its dense, orderly branches. In spring, its leaves are a bright light green, turning a deep green in summer and remaining dark green throughout autumn and winter. Grown in an oval, olive-green glazed stoneware pot, it highlights the rustic character of the trunk and creates a contrast with the bright green of the foliage.
Grow your bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water thoroughly. Then wait for the soil to dry out before watering again in the same way.
