Rhododendron indicum – Azalea – 31 cm
An azalea bonsai measuring 25.5 cm in height (excluding the pot), and with a trunk diameter of 1 cm. The plant is grown in an oval glazed stoneware pot measuring 14 x 10.5 x H5.5 cm.
A Rhododendron indicum (azalea) bonsai, an evergreen flowering plant, is distinguished by its colourful flowers. It is prized for its spring bloom, featuring splendid coral-red flowers that create an elegant and vibrant contrast with the green of the leaves. The leaves are small and oval, bright green during the growing season. As an evergreen, it retains its foliage all year round; in the colder months, the leaves may take on darker or bronze-coloured hues, whilst still retaining their decorative appeal. When grown in a turquoise glazed stoneware oval pot, it creates a refined contrast with the colour of the foliage, enhancing the composition with elegance.
Grow bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months. Azaleas also benefit from a well-ventilated position.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water abundantly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.

Fertilize from spring to fall, avoiding the hottest months of July/August; it is best to fertilize at the end of flowering and after pruning, using an organic, liquid, or solid fertilizer.

The best time for transplanting is immediately after flowering. Repot young specimens every 2 years, and more mature ones every 3 or 4 years.
