DESCRIPTION

The Rhododendron indicum Fujikake (azalea) bonsai, an evergreen flowering plant, is distinguished by its distinctive, colourful flowers. It is prized for its spring flowering, characterised by fuchsia-violet blooms that create an elegant and vibrant contrast with the green of the leaves. The leaves are small, oval and elongated, and a bright green during the growing season. As an evergreen, it retains its foliage all year round; in the colder months, the leaves may take on darker shades, whilst still retaining their decorative appearance. Grown in the double-trunk style (Sokan), it features two trunks branching from the same nebari, creating a dynamic and well-balanced composition. Cultivated in a round black plastic pot, this enhances its appearance and ensures practicality in cultivation.

Location

Grow bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months. Azaleas also benefit from a well-ventilated position.

Watering

Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water abundantly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.

Fertilization

Fertilize from spring to fall, avoiding the hottest months of July/August; it is best to fertilize at the end of flowering and after pruning, using an organic, liquid, or solid fertilizer.
