Akebia quinata – 32 cm
An Akebia quinata bonsai characterised by a height (excluding the pot) of 24 cm, a trunk diameter of 2 cm and a nebari of 6 cm. The plant, in the exposed-root style, is grown in a round, unglazed stoneware pot measuring Ø12.5 x H8 cm.
The Akebia quinata bonsai, a deciduous fruit-bearing plant, is an ornamental species particularly prized for its elegant compound foliage and its striking spring bloom of pink-purple flowers, which are delicately scented. Under favourable conditions in summer, it can produce highly decorative purplish fruits, with small pods containing soft pulp and countless tiny seeds. The distinctive leaves, composed of five oval leaflets arranged in a radial pattern, lend a sense of lightness and refinement to the composition. It features an exposed-root style (Neagari), in which the roots emerge from the soil, blending with the sinuous curve of the trunk to create a dynamic and natural composition. Cultivated in a round, unglazed stoneware pot, it enhances the beauty of the bonsai and lends it a dynamic and refined appearance.
Grow bonsai outdoors all year round, taking care to place it in a sheltered spot during the colder months and in partial shade during the warmer months.
Always respect the dry and wet cycles: whenever the soil feels dry to the touch, water abundantly. Then wait for the soil to dry before watering again in the same way.
