DESCRIPTION

A Celastrus orbiculatus (Chinese snowball or Oriental vine) bonsai, a deciduous, fruit-bearing variety, prized for its deep orange autumn fruits which linger for a long time on the bare branches. In spring, it is prized for its small, greenish-yellow clusters of flowers. It is a dioecious plant, meaning there are male and female specimens: female plants are characterised by their production of orange berries, but fruiting requires the presence of at least one male plant nearby for pollination. The green foliage turns orange-yellow in autumn and is shed in winter. The exposed-root style (Neagari) features a sinuous, natural trunk that grows upwards, supported by visible, well-structured roots, which add strength and character to the plant, conveying a genuine sense of maturity and balance. Grown in a round, green-glazed stoneware pot, it highlights the colour of the leaves and complements the refined appearance of the bonsai perfectly.
