Shohin Bonsai

Shohin bonsai are small plants: they should not exceed 25 cm in height (excluding the pot). The term Shohin means “a small thing”. Specifically for half-cascade or cascade styles, the total height of the canopy is considered. There are also mame bonsai, even smaller plants, which should reach a height of no more than 10 cm. Mame literally means “bean”, indicating the very small size of these bonsai.
